The principal aim of this organization is "health". Pursuing our belief that only by providing treatment facilities and medicines the problems of the villages cannot be solved unless awareness through health education is successfully created, the Sangha has laid utmost importance to this aspect. Though it is a long term programme but we are happy to note the appreciable changes already brought about in the villages through health awareness bringing benefits of health habits and healthy living.
This includes the routine Sunday Services. Every Sunday, a medical team comprising of Doctors, Nurses and Volunteers visit nearly all the rural centres of the Sangha along with the required medicines. After a short prayer and necessary preparatory work, the doctors start examining the patients. Side by side, the volunteers engage themselves in distributing medicines and counseling the patients. Home visits and other organisational work are conducted too. The team returns after the day's work in the evening. Besides this, expert team of doctors visit occasionally as per demand of the Centres to examine selected patients having dental, eye or gynaecological problems. At times, some patients are referred to the nearest Government Hospitals for necessary further treatment. Presently, homeopathic doctors from Kolkata go to the villages. They treat patients and take up other healthcare activities.
Various Medical Camps are organized by the Sangha throughout the year to cater to the urgent needs of villagers around the Centres. Such camps also open up possibilities of establishing public relations. These are held throughout the year on a regular basis.
Special camps are organized under the supervision of eminent physicians. Eye camps are held regularly where patients with glucoma are operated upon with pre and post operative check-ups. Tests are carried out as and when required. Besides, dental check up camps are also held at regular intervals.
